Where to Hold Your Ceremony & Capture Stunning Photos in Rome

One of the best things about a destination elopement in Rome, Italy is that the entire city feels like a ceremony backdrop. Whether you want grand historic landmarks or quiet, hidden corners, there’s a setting to match your vision. Loran & Kaden chose to hold their ceremony in Rome’s LDS Temple- a marriage tradition in their religion. No matter the accommodations you may need… Rome offers everything.

Villa Borghese Elopement

This sprawling park in the heart of Rome is full of tree-lined pathways, elegant fountains, and quiet corners that feel intimate and secluded. The Temple of Diana and the nearby rowboat pond at the Temple of Aesculapius are incredibly romantic spots.

The Vatican

The grandeur of St. Peter’s Basilica and St. Peter’s Square offers a cinematic atmosphere—perfect for couples drawn to iconic locations.

Wander-Worthy Corners

The Spanish Steps at sunrise, ivy-covered alleys in Trastevere, and hidden courtyards you stumble upon make for magical, unplanned photo moments.

Loran & Kaden's Roman Love Story

Loran and Kaden met at age 15, when their friends threw a birthday party for the two of them—same birthday, same spark. Years later, they reconnected and eventually decided to elope to Italy in the most romantic way.

A week into dating, Kaden said, "I think it would be cool to get married in Italy." That idea never left them. Intimate, dreamy, and deeply personal, their Rome elopement reflected everything they envisioned. As members of the LDS faith who believe in eternal marriage, it felt extra special to celebrate in the Eternal City itself—and to hold their ceremony at the Rome LDS Temple, which added even more meaning to their day.

And as a bonus? Italy happens to be one of the most celiac-friendly countries in the world. Since Kaden has celiac disease, they were able to fully enjoy their trip without stress—gluten-free pastries, pasta, and even a dedicated GF deli near the Vatican made the experience delicious and safe.

Photos & Highlights from Villa Borghese

We spent a slow and beautiful afternoon lounging around Villa Borghese, soaking in the Italian sunshine while lazily doing portraits without a care in the world. It was cozy, relaxed, and totally stress-free—the kind of day that makes you pause and think, "This is what it's all about." The light was soft, the pond sparkled, and everything felt absolutely cinematic. Cue the photo nerd squeal.

Q&A With the Bride

Get ready for some real talk from Loran, the bride herself—because if anyone knows what it’s like to elope in Rome, it’s her.

What made you decide on an international elopement?
A week into dating, Kaden said, “I think it would be cool to get married in Italy,” and I basically never let that go. We're both a little introverted, especially with big emotional moments, so doing something low-key, romantic, and just us felt perfect. I’ve always been obsessed with Jane Austen and the dreamy, timeless feeling of Italy—running around museums in our wedding outfits and maybe even getting caught in the rain? Yes, please.

Should couples book an Airbnb or hotel?
1000% Airbnb! Every place we stayed had this cozy, lived-in charm that made the whole experience feel even more special. Just make sure to check the reviews and go with your gut!

the BRIDE

Was it worth having a photographer for the full week?
Absolutely worth it, 100 times over. Since our family wasn’t there, the photos made them feel like they were. And to be honest, even though we knew we wanted to elope, there were still moments of doubt—like, “Are we missing out on something?” But slowing down, taking our time, and letting Allana capture it all made it feel so special. I mean, how often do you get to dress like a Jane Austen heroine and take portraits in front of ancient Roman temples?!

Advice for couples planning a destination elopement?
Trust your gut. Planning can feel overwhelming at first, but don’t let that hold you back. Definitely hire a photographer you vibe with and book more than one shoot—you’ll never regret having more memories. Pick a few locations in case one falls through (because yep, that happened to us). Have a plan... and then go with the flow!

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

Kaden’s Celiac Disease can make travel and food preparation harder. Italy offered a wide variety of gluten free shops, bakeries, and restaurants, as well as all the classic Italian dishes gluten free style. The ease of finding safe foods made Loran and Kaden feel relaxed and eager to try all the delicious foods. Consider looking abroad if you have similar dietary restrictions.
